Dental Implants

Best Solution for tooth replacement

Dental implants are a strong, long-lasting treatment option for patients with lost or missing teeth. At Jones Family Dental, we are proud to be able to offer the implant surgery as well as the implant crown restoration to our patients without having to refer you out to multiple doctors, saving you time and money.

What is a dental implant?

Implants consist of 3 parts.  The implant, the abutment, and the crown.  The implant, which is the screw, is placed into the bone and allowed to heal anywhere from 3-6 months.  Once the implant has healed, an abutment and crown is placed onto the implant.  Dr. Jones will monitor the healing of the implant and decide when it is ready to have a crown placed on it.

How many teeth can I replace?

Implants can replace one tooth, multiple teeth or even the entire mouth.

Tired of using denture adhesive? Implants can also be placed under dentures to make them stronger and keep them from moving around.

What is the process of getting my new tooth/teeth?

If an extraction of a tooth is needed first, Dr. Jones will discuss the need for bone grafting in the extraction site to preserve bone so that an implant can be placed in the site later.

When the bone has healed for 3-6 months, a 3-D x-ray will be made of the area.  This x-ray allows Dr. Jones to digitally plan your implant surgery.  On the day of your surgery, a 3-D printed surgical guide is often used, helping to place the implant in the bone with extreme accuracy.  (See video "Implant Surgical Guide)  After healing of the implant has taken place (usually 3-6 months), an abutment and crown can be fabricated and placed on the dental implant.

Bridge vs Implant

Patient's are often presented with two choices to replace a tooth.  A bridge or an implant.  Both options have their advantages and disadvantages.  To better understand the differences, see the video labeled "Bridge vs Implant"
